Choosing a forex challenge: steps, prices and currencies
What is the difference between a one-step and a two-step forex challenge?
A one-step challenge has one evaluation phase with one profit target, while a two-step has two phases, each with its own target. FTMO sells both: its 1-Step asks for 10% in a single phase, its 2-Step for 10% and then 5%. When you weigh one step prop firms against two-phase routes, compare the loss limits as well as the targets, because FTMO’s 1-Step carries a 3% daily loss limit against 5% on its 2-Step. Three-phase routes exist too, such as Lark Funding’s 3-Step, with targets of 5%, 4% and then 3%.
Can I get a funded forex account without passing an evaluation?
Yes: an instant route starts you on a funded account with no evaluation phase, as Blue Guardian’s CFD Instant does. What you give up shows in the rules: CFD Instant has no profit target, but its daily loss limit is 3% against 4% on the firm’s CFD 1 Step Standard and 2 Step Standard challenges, and leverage is capped at 1:30. An instant account is judged on funded-stage rules from the first trade, so read those before comparing its price with a challenge’s.
Why are some forex challenge prices in euros or yen?
Every price is shown in the currency the firm charges, and none is converted. FTMO lists its fees in euros against account sizes in dollars, and ThinkCapital sells a second ladder of accounts denominated in yen beside its dollar accounts. FTMO also picks the fee currency from the buyer’s country, so check the currency on the firm’s own checkout before you compare its fee with a dollar price.
What does the second, lower price in the table mean?
It is a promotional price, shown beside the list price, which stays as the first figure. Where the note under it gives a source, it names a discount code or a markdown the firm applies itself. Promotions change, so the figure the firm’s checkout charges on the day you buy is the one that counts.
Why does a pay-after-pass challenge cost only a few dollars?
Because the entry fee is only the first payment, and an activation fee falls due once you pass. Top One Trader’s Nova, for example, costs $7 to enter and $165 to activate at the $25,000 size, and the activation fee rises with account size. Add both amounts before you set a pay-after-pass route against a challenge you pay for once.
What does 'Reported' mean on a forex challenge?
It means the terms come from the firm’s own published pricing, rules or contract. A Reported label establishes the promise the firm makes; it does not prove that the promised outcome occurred. The evidence tiers page explains each label, including what it takes to reach Verified.
